Really interesting to be moving through the Alchemy of Flow and Form Personal Reflection journal a second time. To read my reflections from a year ago and to see clearly what has changed (and hasn’t changed), to see where I fulfilled intentions and where I didn’t… hard to lie to myself when I have the post from a year ago right in front of me! So this return process is a bit humbling to say the least.
Yesterday, before reading my journal entry from last year, I saw a quote on Facebook:
I’m no longer searching, I’m just opening.” -Mark Nepo
It deeply resonated with me, and explains — among other things — why I no longer buy hundreds of books a year from Amazon.
So this morning while preparing to write this week’s reflections, I read my entry from last year. Interesting:
An intentional softening in both my practice and my life. Rather than force or push myself, I’m choosing to soften and open. New practice for me and believe it is critical for my personal life and for my teaching. I’ve pushed myself most of my life so softening is feeling really good.
Softening and opening are for me the same thing. Both are receptive and expansive and allow me to move forward in a natural and organic way.
The lesson for me — even though I’ve not accomplished much of what I had intended last year, it doesn’t mean failure. It means things are unfolding as they should and I can continue to open to the flow of this journey. It also means setting new intentions and planning for 2016. So here’s to San Marcos 2016.
